Back in November I wrote a blog entry about the Papal blessing Jeff and I received from Pope John Paul II on our honeymoon. We have a picture of the two of us kneeling before the Pope in our hallway. Tonight I was holding Kelly (age 2) when she got out of her bath and she looked over at the picture and said, "There Mama," as she pointed to me. I pointed to Jeff and said, "Who's that?" And she said, "Daddy." I then pointed to the Pope and said, "Who's that?" And Kelly replied, "The angel." I just stared at her and asked again who it was and she said, "That the angel." I asked Jeff if he had told her that and he said "no", and I've never told her that either.
I have a very strong faith in God and I believe that children can see things that adults either can't or won't allow themselves to see. I believe that Kelly called John Paul II an angel, because she knows he is.

First of all, I so know how you feel about wishing people would leave comments. So here's mine...my belief (and I've developed this belief from personal experiences, books, discussions, etc.) is that children's spirits are not all gummed up by the ways of the world the way adult's spirits are. It's like they have a clearer channel to God. It's the same with people with certain special needs--they're more pure. One thing I'm striving for as an adult is to clear all that crap away so I can more directly connect with my higher self, which I believe to be God. And little glimpses of what it means to have that simple, unobstructed view of pure love from the little people in our lives...it's magical.
Thanks for writing, Colleen! xoxo
Thank you Cristin, I believe exactly the same thing you do. What she said wasn't filled with any doubt and she certainly didn't care if what she said sounded crazy or untrue, she just said what she knew.
God is good, all the time!
Love you! xoxo
So awesome, Colleen! And, I completely agree with Cristin.
Pope John Paul is a saint! Soon to be declared officially. Can you believe it? Your marriage blessed by a saint.
Love, B
