This past Sunday I sat in the banquet room at Concannon's Village, a banquet hall and pub that I used to go to all the time back in high school to see The Noel Henry Irish Showband play Irish music. Sunday was very different. Instead of hearing music and dancing I sat with about 70 other people who were just finishing up the 40 Day for Life campaign. Most of these people had just come from a Planned Parenthood in Brighton MA where they had been taking turns praying continuously for the past 40 days. We listened to Catherine Adair speak.
Back in the mid 90s Catherine would have never been caught dead talking to the people in the room in front of her, let alone being their keynote speaker. She had been told by Planned Parenthood to "never talk to or make eye contact with those crazy people outside the clinic." Well, now she is one of those "crazy" people, and so I am, and so is Lorainne and Ruth and Ginny and George, and everyone who else who was sitting in that room. If being "crazy" is defined as a person who wants to defend life, help women, and expose every lie told by the abortion industry then I'm as crazy as they come!
Here is an article I found that tells Catherine's story (I was going to try to re-tell it from memory but I wouldn't have done it justice). I would encourage everyone to read it - pro-lifers and pro-choicers. Be warned there are a few disturbing descriptions of what Catherine saw when she worked in the abortion industry, but if I can hear about them and read about them in my second trimester of pregnancy then I would encourage you to be strong enough to make it through these descriptions as well.
